Former Royals Manager Takes Over Big League Royals

New Kansas City Royals General Manager Dayton Moore.

Former Winchester Royals manager Dayton Moore was named General Manager of the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

Moore served as an assistant coach with the Winchester Royals of the Valley Baseball League in 1990 and 1991 under current Royals coach Kevin Anderson. He then stepped up to the head manager position in 1992 and 1993 and guided the Royal to the Jim Lineweaver Cup both years as the Valley League champions.

Moore, who grew up a Kansas City Royals fan, served the previous 12 years as an assistant with the Atlanta Braves where he helped guide the organization to 12 straight division titles. In Kansas City he will take over for Allard Baird, who served as G.M. for the last six seasons. Moore becomes just the sixth G.M. in the history of the Royals organization.
