Players of the Week

Matt Mansilla (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), a junior outfielder for Woodstock finished third in the Valley League with a .471 batting average and second with a .591 on base percentage for the week. Mansilla, who plays collegiate at the College of Charleston, also added a home run, three RBIs, five runs scored, two stolen bases and five walks to help pace the River Bandits. Mansilla was a crucial piece for Woodstock as the River Bandits finished the week a perfect 5-0 in the Valley League.

Nolan Brannon (St. Petersburg, Fla.), a junior first baseman for New Market, played in five games, starting four, for the Rebels last week. Brannon hit .500, led the league with nine hits, and finished tied for the league lead with seven RBIs. In addition, the University of Tampa product also scored two runs, walked once and stole a base as New Market went 3-2 last week to up their overall record to 7-6.

Pitchers of the Week

John Dages (Indianapolis, Ind.), a right-handed junior for Waynesboro out of Butler University, won his only start of the week, going eight innings while allowing just one earned run. Dages scattered eight hits, while striking out three and walking one in Waynesboro's 17-2 win over Luray. This season, Dages is a league-best 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA and 15 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings pitched.  Waynesboro sits just a game out in the Valley League standings.

Christopher Masters (Marietta, Ga.), a freshman lefthander for New Market, went 1-0 last week with a 1.50 ERA in two starts. Masters, who plays for Western Carolina University, struck out a league-leading 22 batters in 12 innings pitched, while allowing 10 hits, only one for extra bases, and walking three. Masters held opponents to a .222 batting average as he helped lead the Rebels to a 3-2 week overall.
