Players of the Week Announced


Players of the Week

North

Player:  Bobby Rauh, Winchester. Rauh hit .421 on the week with eight hits in 19 at bats, including one double, and had a co-league-high six stolen bases in six attempts.

Pitcher: David Hayes, Fauquier. Hayes tossed one of three complete games the league has had this year by going the distance in the Gators 13-1 win over Front Royal on June 15. Hayes scattered five hits and struck out eight in the North Division win.

Central

Player: Mike Schwartz, Harrisonburg. Schwartz hit .462 on the week with six hits in 13 at-bats. He had two doubles and a home run among those six hits and boasted an .846 slugging percentage for the week.

Pitcher: Guido Knudson, Woodstock. Knudson stepped right into the River Bandits closer's role and posted three saves in three appearances last week. He was perfect in those three appearances, allowing no runs and striking out three in 3.0 innings of work.

South

Player: Rob Froio, Rockbridge. Froio helped the Rapids to the first two victories in team history last week by hitting .519 (14 for 27) with three doubles, four runs batted in and swiping six bases in seven attempts.

Pitcher: Aaron Swenson, Staunton. In his only appearance of the week, Swenson struck out eight in 7.1 innings and helped the Braves to a 5-2 South Division win over Covington on June 20.
