WINCHESTER, Va. - The 2009 edition of the Valley League All-Star game is nearly upon us, and host Woodstock is well into its final preparations for the contest.
The annual all-star game, to be held 7:30 pm July 12 at Central High School in Woodstock, will again pit teams from the northern half of the 12-team league against teams from the southern half. Fauquier, Front Royal, Haymarket, Luray, Winchester and host Woodstock will make up the northern team.
The southern team will feature players from Covington, Harrisonburg, New Market, Rockbridge, Staunton and Waynesboro.
In addition to the game, the league will also hold a skills competition and home run derby before the contest.
New this year is the Mid-Summer Classic against the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League on July 15. For more information on that game, please click here.
