Tuesday Round-Up

Luray 15, Fauquier 6

Drew Martinez had four hits and Daniel Bowman drove in four as Luray won its second straight home game, defeating Fauquier 15-6. 

Ben Burgess had three hits for the Gators.

Waynesboro 5, Woodstock 3

Waynesboro defeated Woodstock 5-3 behind Andy Altemus' seven innings pitched in which he scattered seven hits and one walk while striking out four. Alex McClure was 3 for 5 with two RBI and Jose Rodriguez 2 for 3 with a run batted in. Mathew Blow and Manny Pedrozo were both 2 for 3 for the River Bandits.

Haymarket 6, Front Royal 4

Michael Demma had three hits and three runs batted in and Greg Hopkins added two hits to lead the Senators to the North Division win over Front Royal.

Jared Simon and Cody Kauffman were both 2 for 5 to pace the Cards.                                

New Market 8, Covington 5

Matt Townsend and Zak Messer each had two hits, with Townsend driving in two and hitting a home run, to lead the homestanding Rebels to a win over Covington.

Adam Browett and Richie Rodriguez each had two hits for the ‘Jacks. 

Winchester 7, Harrisonburg 4

In a game filled with 11 errors, Winchester scored two runs each in the sixth and seventh innings to come away with the win.  Bobby Rauh led the Royals with one hit, one RBI and two stolen bases while Brad Zapenas was 2 for 3 and 1 RBI.  For the Turks Bobby Brown went 2-4. 

Matt Brazis pitched 3.1 innings in relief for the win striking out seven.

Staunton 10, Rockbridge 1

Shane Pysh pitched eight shutout innings and his Staunton teammates belted three homers as the Braves defeated Rockbridge, 10-1, to improve to 9-3 on the season. Pysh lost his shutout in the ninth and finished with a seven-hitter. The one run he allowed was unearned. He struck out one and did not walk a batter.

Chris Clinton finished the game 2-for-4 with four RBIs.

Robert Anston and Graham Sullivan had two hits each for the Rapids.
