Wednesday Recap

Luray 2, Haymarket 0

The Wranglers win their second straight with the shutout victory at Haymarket. Three Luray pitchers combined to scatter seven hits and strikeout seven in the shutout win.

Jacob Wilson paced the offense with two hits while Scott Van Dusseldorp had three for the Senators.

Fauquier 4, Harrisonburg 3

A Chad Pierce double drove home Chris Love with the winning run Wednesday night in Fauquier's 4-3 win over Harrisonburg.

David Hayes pitched the first 6 1/3 innings to earn his second victory of the summer.

Woodstock 6, Rockbridge 0

Heith Hatfield pitched a complete game shutout, allowing three hits and striking out 10 in the River Bandits win over Rockbridge.

Jonathan Koscso went 3 for 5 with 2 doubles and scored three runs for Woodstock.

Staunton 11, New Market 3

The Braves continue their winning ways with the 11-3 win at New Market. Blake McDade drove in three runs and Kent Buford was 3 for 5 with a pair of stolen bases to lead the Staunton attack.

Kenny Mickens was 3 for 5 and Matt Townsend 2 for 4 for New Market.

Winchester 16, Front Royal 9 

In a game featuring 33 total hits, the Royals extended their winning streak to three games with the North Division win over Front Royal. Winchester had two big innings, scoring five runs in the 3rd and nine in the 4th. 

Dave Fallon was 4 for 5 with three RBI, Kevin Griffin 2 for 3 and drove in three, and Kevin Garcia had 5 RBI's in a 3 for 3 effort to lead the victors.  Greg Van Sickler paced Front Royal with a 4 for 5 evening while Jesse Henry and Robert Newman each had a pair of runs batted in.

Waynesboro 14, Covington 2

The Generals banged out 17 hits, including four by Cory Kavanda, in the South Division victory over Covington. Tony Caldwell also drove in five.

Jairo Acevedo had three hits for the ‘Jacks.
