Winchester 3, Haymarket 2 (Game 1)

Bobby Rauh singled home Steven Sabins from third base with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Winchester the one-run victory in the opening game of a doubleheader Sunday night.

Sabins had two hits for the victors while Zeth Stone, who scored the tying run in the top the seventh, and Greg Hopkins had two hits each for the Senators.

Winchester 11, Haymarket 8 (Game 2)

Winchester completed the doubleheader sweep over Haymarket by scoring six runs in the first and then holding on for the 11-8 win.

Riley Cooper and Sam Greenberg had three-run HR's for Haymarket while Robert Maddox had a grand slam for the Royals.

New Market 6, Woodstock 5

Kenny Mickens, the Valley's leading hitter for the week, was 3 for 3 with a run batted in as New Market edged Woodstock. Sanchez Gartman had the game-winning RBI on a walk.

Johnathan Koscso was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs batted in for the River Bandits.

Waynesboro 4, Rockbridge 0

Ricky Marshall improved to 3-1 on the spring by scattering six hits and two walks in seven innings as the Generals shut out Rockbridge. Marshall struck out seven in the win.

AJ Kirby Jones and Ryan Matthews each had three hits while Joe Charron was 2 for 3 for the Rapids.

Front Royal 8, Fauquier 4

Greg Van Sickler struck out four in 7.1 innings to earn his second win of the summer for Front Royal. Justin Wilson and Jordan Erisman both had two hits each for the Gators and  Anthony Ottrando led the Cardinals hitting, going 3 for 4 with a homerun and 2 RBI.

Covington 9, Staunton 5                          

Covington scored eight runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Staunton 9-5. The Braves took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first on Todd Brazeal's grand slam homer, but starter Benedy Mejia allowed no more hits over the next six innings and picked up the win for the ‘Jacks.

Sherman Johnson and J.J. Muse had two hits each Ryan Durrence and Adam Browett each drove in a pair of runs for Covington.

Harrisonburg 5, Luray 4, 11 inn.

Harrisonburg rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth and then pushed across the game-winning run in the 11th to down Luray. Raymond Quinones had the game-winning hit, a single thru the left side, to complete the Turks comeback.

Alex Haitsuka went 2-for-5 with two RBI's for the Wranglers.
