Rapids Defeat Rain, Turks


Rockbridge 7, Harrisonburg 6

The Rapids overcome a Harrisonburg comeback and a 52-minute rain delay to down the Turks 7-6 in eight innings. The delay, which occurred in the fifth, caused the game to be called with two outs in the top of the ninth due to darkness.

Colin Duborow led the victors with three hits in four at-bats and Anthony Nalepa was the winner on the mound.

Thomas Nichols had a two-run HR for Harrisonburg in the sixth to tie the game at 6-6.

Covington 7, Haymarket 3

Jake Ramsey allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings to pitch Covington past Haymarket 7-3 at Casey Field.   Andrew Longley hit a three-run homer in the first for the Lumberjacks, while J.J. Muse, Richie Rodriquez and Junior Arrojo all had two hits each.  

Peter Onorato had four hits for Haymarket.

Fauquier 3, Woodstock 0

In a game delayed by both rain and fog, David Hayes pitched the Gators to the shutout victory over Woodstock.

Kevin Deese had an inside-the-park home run in the eighth inning to put Fauquier up 3-0.
