Thursday Round-Up


Staunton 10, Harrisonburg 2

Staunton pounded out 16 hits against three different Harrisonburg pitchers en route to a 10-2 victory at Long Field/Mauck Stadium.  Todd Brazeal went 4 for 4 with a 2-run homer and 2 RBI and leadoff hitter Chris Clinton went 4 for 5 with a triple to lead the Braves offense

Bobby Brown was 3 for 4 with a solo HR and Raymond Quinones was 2 for 4 to pace the Turks.

Haymarket 4, New Market 1

The Senators scored two runs in the third and then added one run in each of the next two innings to down New Market 4-1.

Michael Lang, Zeth Stone and Michael Demma all had two hits each for the hosts and Zach Helgeson drove in the Rebels run.

Waynesboro 5, Fauquier 4, 14 inn.

Waynesboro scored the tying run in the ninth and then pushed across the winning run in the 14th on a sacrifice fly to rally past Fauquier. Chris Enourato was the winner in relief.

Cory Kovanda had three hits for the Generals and Rob Kral had two, hit a two-run HR and scored the winning run. Andres Oster was 3 for 6 for the Gators.

Front Royal 4, Woodstock 3, 11 inn.

Buddy Sosnoskie, who had walked to lead off the Front Royal 11th, eventually scored on a wild pitch to send the Cardinals past Woodstock. James Roche and Jim Jacquot both had two hits for the victors; Michael Benton did the same for the River Bandits.

Covington 8, Winchester 0

Danny DiSimone and Bryce Robinson combined to scatter six hits and strike out nine as Covington blanked Winchester. Lammar Guy paced the offense with three hits while Kevin Garcia had two for the Royals.

Luray 15, Rockbridge 7

An eight-run third keyed the Wranglers blowout victory over Rockbridge. Drew Martinez had three of Luray's 14 hits and Garrett Whittels drove in five runs for the hosts.

Anthony Melchionda had two hits and three RBI for the Rapids.
