Woodstock 4, Harrisonburg 2
Alex Burkard kept Harrisonburg off the scoreboard for 4 2/3
innings while his teammates built a 4-0 lead after two frames as
Woodstock sent the Turks to their fourth straight loss.
Burkard evened his record to 2-2 by working through six innings,
yielding two runs on six hits.
Jonathan Koscso, Shawn Ablett and Evan Kehoe each went 2-for-4 for
the River Bandits. Shortstop Derek Vigoa registered 12
assists and stole home for an unusual night on the diamond.
Thomas Nichols went 2-for-3 and was the only Turk with multiple
hits.
Front Royal 12, Staunton 4
Greg Van Sickler struck out six in seven innings as Front Royal continued its hot streak with a blowout victory over Staunton. Steve McQuail was 2 for 4 with three RBI and Jared Simon 3 for 4 with one run batted in for the victors.
Kent Burford was 2 for 4 for the Braves.
Covington 10, Fauquier 1
Cassidy McDaniel allowed just one run over seven innings to pitch Covington past Fauquier 10-1 at Casey Field. McDaniel scattered four hits while striking out eight and walking just one.
Andrew Longley had three hits for the 'Jacks, including a two-run homer and Junior Arrojo was 3-for-3.
Chad Pierce had two hits for Fauquier.
New Market 8, Luray 3
Richard Gonzalez, Kevin Rufus and George Carroll all drove in two runs apiece to lead New Market past Luray.
AJ Wirnsberger was 2 for 4 with a pair of runs batted in for the Wranglers.
Winchester 13, Waynesboro 3
Winchester snaps its five-ame losing streak with a season-high 19 hits in a 13-3 win over Waynesboro. Jordan Steranka led the attack with a two-run HR and four RBI and Dave Fallon was 3 for 5 with 5 RBI.
Tony Caldwell and Rhett Stafford had dingers for the Generals.
Haymarket 9, Rockbridge 4
Haymarket had 16 hits, including at least two each by six different players, in a 9-4 home win over Rockbridge. Tom La Stella had three hits and Michael Lang a home run for the victors.
Sam Roberts drove in three for the Rebels.
