Staunton Opens Second Half with Win

STAUNTON, Va. - The Staunton Braves opened the second half of the 2009 Valley League season with a 16-7 win over New Market Monday night.

John Dishon was 4-for-4 with three doubles and a grand slam homer to lead the Braves attack - he rounded out his night by scoring three runs, driving in five and stealing three bases. Todd Brazeal backed him up with three hits in six at-bats.

Kenny Mickens and Kevin Rufus had three hits each for the Rebels and Sanchez Gartman belted a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs.

Jason Ferguson was the winning pitcher in relief.
