Offense Rules Tuesday Contests
Woodstock 7, Rockbridge 2
Woodstock starter Alex Burkard scattered six hits thru 6.0 innings and struck out nine against two walks to earn the win over host Rockbridge. Cory Tilton led the River Bandits offense by going 4 for 4 with a run batted in, DH Michael Garza 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and catcher Shawn Ablett 2 for 4 with three RBI.
Graham Sullivan went 3 for 3 for the Rapids and closer Alan Watts struck out four in the last two innings.
Luray 11, Harrisonburg 0
Ben Alsup struck out 11 in 8.0 innings and Jacob Wilson was 2 for 4 with a home run to pace Luray past Harrisonburg.
Thomas Nichols and Ryan Eden had the Turks only hits.
Covington 4, Waynesboro 1
Jake Ramsey improves to 2-1 by striking out seven in five innings before Ryan Shook records the final six outs to earn his first save. Ryan Durrence and Andrew Longley were both 3 for 5 for the Lumberjacks.
Sean Bukovich was 2 for 4 and Rhett Stafford hit a home run for Waynesboro.
Winchester 10, Staunton 5
The Royals extended their winning streak to a season-high six games in doubling up Staunton 10-5. Steven Sabins was 2 for 5 with three RBI's and Gabe Ortiz 3 for 4 and two RBI's lead the Winchester attack.
Chris Clinton was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI's and Anthony Mesa added a pinch hit solo HR in the 9th for the Braves.
Front Royal 10, Haymarket 2
Greg Van Sickler wins his fourth of the summer as Front Royal heads into the Mid-Atlantic Classic tied with Luray and Staunton with a Valley-best 17 wins. In six innings, Van Sickler strikes out six and allows just a pair of unearned runs.
Dan Evatt drove in four to pace the Cards offense.
Michael Demma had two hits for Haymarket.
