Tuesday Wrap-Up
Front Royal 6, Haymarket 2
Front Royal wins for the sixth straight time with a 6-2 win over Haymarket. Josh Varner wins his second of the summer before Ryan George got the final two outs to post his sixth save. Steve McQuail paced the Cards offense with three hits, including two home runs, in four at-bats.
Mike Demma was 2 for 3 for the Senators.
Winchester 9, Fauquier 2
Winchester, the hottest team in the Valley with its 10th straight win, won again behind a 3 for 5, 5 RBI performance from Ben Hammer and two hits each from Dave Fallon and Robert Maddox.
Chad Oberacker was 3 for 4 and Ben Burgess had two hits for the Gators.
Staunton 16, Rockbridge 3
The Staunton Braves pounded six Rockbridge pitchers for 18 hits Tuesday and blew out the Rapids 16-3.
Corey Pollizano pitched six shutout innings, allowing just four hits to pick up the win on the mound while Kyle Blackburn was 4-for-4 with five RBIs to lead the Braves offense. Donovan Huffer and Kent Burford added three hits each.
Scott Colton belted a three-run homer for Rockbridge.
Woodstock 6, Luray 5
The River Bandits use a three-run seventh to key a 6-5 Central Division win over host Luray. Matt Blow was 3 for 4 with three RBI and Shawn Ablett drove in three runs for the victors.
AJ Wirnsberger was 2 for 3 and drove in three for Luray.
Waynesboro 8, Covington 5
Waynesboro scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to
rally past Covington 8-5 at Casey Field.
Rhett Stafford had three hits for the Generals, while Jose
Rodriquez added a two-run homer and Ryan Adams earned the win in
relief.
Adam Browett and Sherman Johnson both had two hits for the
Lumberjacks.
