Waynesboro 15, Covington 4
The Generals won the first of two games on the day with a blowout victory over Covington. Winning pitcher Andy Altemus allowed 10 hits, but struck out nine and walked just one in seven innings of work.
Alex McClure was 3 for 4 and Tony Caldwell 2 for 4 with four RBI to lead the offense.
Adam Browett had three hits for the ‘Jacks.
Waynesboro 4, Rockbridge 0
In its nightcap, Waynesboro completed its season with a 4-0 shutout victory over Rockbridge. Matt Shepherd retired 16 straight at one point to earn his first win of the summer.
Sean Bukovich was 2 for 2 for the Generals.
Staunton 6, Covington 5
Staunton rallied for three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Covington, 6-5.
Zac Caito was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Braves offense with Kyle Blackburn and Anthony Mesa adding two hits each.
J.J. Muse and Justin Richardson belted homers for the Jacks.
Haymarket 9, Winchester 3
Haymarket kept its playoff hopes alive with a 9-3 win at Winchester. The Senators scored a run in five of the first six innings enroute to the win and set themselves up for a possible winner-take-all situation Friday at home against Haymarket.
Michael Lang was 3 for 4 with three RBI to lead the victors with Tom La Stella and Scott Van Dusseldorp chipping in a pair of hits apiece.
Dave Fallon, Jordan Steranka, and Brad Zapenas all had two hits for the Royals.
Front Royal 4, Fauquier 3
Jesse Henry had three hits and Steve McQuail drove in three to lead Front Royal past Fauquier. The Cardinals still lead in the race for the No. 1 seed throughout the playoffs.
Chad Oberacker was 3 for 5 and Chad Pierce 2 for 5 for Fauquier, who need a win over Haymarket Friday night to secure a playoff berth.
Woodstock 5, New Market 2
The River Bandits wrapped up the regular season with their fourth straight victory. Woodstock can finish no worse than third in its division and can clinch the No. 4 overall seed if Front Royal defeats Winchester Friday evening.
New Market needs a win Friday against Harrisonburg in order to clinch a playoff berth.
Luray 7, Harrisonburg 6, 11 innings
Luray clinched the Central and dealt a near death-blow to Harrisonburg's playoff chances with the 7-6, inning win. For the Turks to make the playoffs, they must win Friday against New Market and then hope that the Rebels lose their remaining two games in order to create a one-game playoff for the final playoff spot.
Daniel Bowman and DJ Hicks both had three hits for the Wranglers; Shaun Cooper was 3 for 4 with three RBI for Harrisonburg.
