Haymarket Hits Top 10
The Haymarket Senators improved their position by four spots in the PG CrossChecker Weekly Top 30 Summer Baseball rankings in a poll released Monday morning by the organization.
Haymarket , which clinched a spot in the VBL playoffs Sunday afternoon with a win over Covington, holds down the No. 9 spot in the CrossChecker poll after being ranked 13th last week. The Senators enter the final full week of the VBL season with a record of 26-12.
The Senators are one of three VBL teams mentioned in this week’s poll. Luray, which was ranked No. 21 last week after previously and fifteenth two weeks ago, is one of a host of teams (with Winchester being one of them) under consideration for Top 30 ranking.
Haymarket, the defending Lineweaver Cup champions, have worked their way up the Top 30 rankings since July 7, when they entered the poll at No. 27.
The next poll will be released Monday, August 2.
