Haymarket and Luray Move Up

STAUNTON, Va. - Haymarket and Luray have both improved their spots in the PG CrossChecker Top 30 in a poll released Tuesday by the organization.

Haymarket, the Valley League's regular season champion, moves up one spot to No. 7 in this week's poll.

The Senators have been ranked in every poll since the beginning of July and the No. 7 spot is their highest ranking to date.

Luray, which re-entered the rankings last week at No. 26, jumps four positions to No. 22 this week.

The Wranglers, with a 34-19 record, qualified for the Lineweaver Cup championship series Monday night with an 8-2 elimination game victory over Winchester.

Haymarket can join Luray in the best-of-three championship series with a home win over Front Royal this evening.

The Cards forced a game three with a 6-5, 11 inning home victory Monday night.

The Senators and Luray are the only two VBL teams in the poll. Winchester, which had been among the "others receiving consideration" dropped out following its semi-final round loss to the Wranglers.

Yarmouth-Dennis (Mass.) Red Sox of the Cape Cod League remains at the top spot in the poll. The Sox have a 30-17 record and were the CCL Eastern Division regular season champion.
