Thursday Night Wrap Up

Woodstock 7 Waynesboro 5

Vincent Voiro pitched 7.0 innings, striking out eight and allowing just three hits and one walk for the River Bandits over Waynesboro. JD Ingalls had the save, striking out two in the ninth. Ryan Garcia had two hits and Billy Barber three RBI to pace the Woodstock offense.

Mike Hernandez struck out eight in 6 2/3 for the Generals while Andrew Tourcy had two hits and an RBI to pace the offense.

Luray 7, Rockbridge 0

Luray posted three runs in the first and coasted to the 7-0 win over Rockbridge. Ryan Lashley had five runs batted in on two hits, including a double and a home run.

Ian Dickson struck out three in relief for Rockbridge.

Winchester 2, Staunton 1

Winchester snapped a 15 2/3 inning scoreless streak with an earned run in the bottom of the sixth against longtime rival Staunton and went on to a 2-1 win over the Braves.  J.D. Wallace won the game for the Royals with a towering HR to LF, his 1st, in the 7th. Staunton scored its only run in the first inning on a lead off double by Steve Scoby, who moved to third on a sacrifice bunt and scored on Stephen Branca's single to LF.  Charlie Steinman went 7 1/3 innings for the Royals allowing six hits.  Matt Zahel worked the 9th for his second save.  Logan Dodds took the loss working 7 innings.

Front Royal 4, Harrisonburg 3

Justin Malone got the win in relief for Front Royal, holding visiting Harrisonburg scoreless in the ninth.  Kurt Wunderlich pitched 7.0 innings for the Turks, allowing eight hits and two runs against eight strikeouts.  James Roche was 4 for 4 and Drew Gadaire was 3 for 5 for the victors with Roche driving in the game winning run with a ninth inning double.

Haymarket 6, New Market 1

Three Senators pitchers combined to hold New Market to six hits in a 6-1 home win over the Rebels. Sal Lisanti struck out eight for Haymarket with Alex Murari driving in three.

Dan Schafferman had three hits for the Rebels.
