Luray 6, Covington 2

Host Luray uses one run in the sixth and three more in the eighth to pull away from Covington in a 6-2 victory.

Robby Graham, Jeff Jefferson and Jery Neufang each drove in two runs for the Wranglers, who also got eight strikeouts from winning pitcher Cody Weiss.

Casey Selsor had a pair of RBI for Covington.

Woodstock 5, Front Royal 1

Three River Bandits pitchers scattered five hits in a 5-1 win over Front Royal. Ben Paullus struck out nine in 7.0 innings of work and Derek Vigoa had two hits to pace the Woodstock attack.

TJ Hoelzer had a hit and an RBI for Front Royal.

Waynesboro 7, Harrisonburg 3 (10 innings)

Waynesboro, down to its last at-bat, scores three runs in the ninth to provide extra baseball and then plates four in the 10th to secure the comeback win at Harrisonburg. Kenny Fleming had two hits and RBI for the Generals along with two runs scored and a walk.  Andrew Blackwell picked up the win for Waynesboro (1-0), while James Weiner got the loss for the Turks (0-1).

Haymarket 16, Winchester 6

The Senators banged out 21 hits, led by Brant Jones' five in six at-bats, to lead Haymarket over Winchester. Jones also had five RBI for the victors and Tyler White a two-run dinger.  For the Royals, Cory Spangenberg was 4 for 5 and Blake Crabtree had a 3-run triple in the 9th.  Winning pitcher Steve Simon struck out nine in 6.0 innings.

Staunton 9, New Market 4

A five-run eighth pushed Staunton past visiting New Market. Catcher Daniel Wright and pinch hitter Justin Miller each had two run singles in the frame for the Braves.

Rusty Smith paced the Rebels with three hits.
