Sunday Night Wrap

Haymarket 14, Winchester 2

Host Haymarket scores 12 runs in its final five at-bats to blow out Winchester 14-2. Leading 2-1 after one, the Senators scored three, one, one, four and three runs in the fourth thru eighth innings to turn a close game into the rout.

Rudy Flores led a 17-hit attack with five RBI.

Matt Faiman and Steve Sabins each have two hits for the Royals.

Covington 5, Luray 3

The host 'Jacks broke open a tie ballgame with two runs in the seventh and went on to a 5-3 win over Luray.

Andrew Longley brought in what proved to be the game-winning run on a single to right before Matt Martinez gave Covington an insurance run with an RBI single to center.

Justin Fradejas and Matt Rickles had two hits each for the Wranglers.

Harrisonburg 7, Waynesboro 5

Trailing by five runs after five innings, Harrisonburg storms back for a 7-5 victory over host Waynesboro.

Joe Huber, one of two Turks players with two hits, had the game-winning RBI in the eighth.

Matt Malloy had three hits for the Generals.

Staunton 12, New Market 1

Staunton blew open Sunday night’s game with an eight-run second inning and went on to defeat New Market 12-1.

Justin Bagbey belted a two-run homer, his third of the year, in the second and Todd Brazeal capped the second with a grand slam blast to center. Joey Cuda worked six shutout innings to get the win for the Braves. He struck out seven, allowed four hits and did not walk a batter.

Jason Coker and Jordan Owen had two hits each for the Rebels.

Woodstock 4 Front Royal 3

Mike Swietanski pitched a scoreless three innings and striking out three to pick up the 4-3 victory for Woodstock over visiting Front Royal.

Karl Johnston went 3 for 5 with an RBI and Eric Kroll went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the River Bandits.

Stephon Rogers went 3 for 4 for the Cards.
