Wednesday Wrap

Winchester 9, Haymarket 5

Visiting Winchester rallies twice in the late innings to down league-leading Haymarket 9-5. Trailing 4-1, the Royals score five times in the seventh and three more times in the ninth to win despite being out-hit by the Senators.

Cory Spangenberg has two hits and Steve Sabins two RBI to lead the Winchester offense.

Brant Jones is 3 for 5 with two RBI for Haymarket.

New Market 12, Staunton 5

New Market wins its fifth straight with a 12-5 win over visiting Staunton.  The Rebels banged out 15 hits in the win, including two each six different players.

Kevin Brown paced this group with a 2 for 4 evening that included three RBI.

Evan Ashley was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in for the Braves.

Covington 6, Luray 5 (12 inn)

Guiseppe Papaccio two-out double to center in the 12th scores the game-winning run in a 6-5 Covington victory over Luray.

The two teams traded the lead four times and both scored in the ninth before the 'Jacks put together the winning rally with a walk and a sacrifice prior to Papaccio's heroics.

Jonathan Murphy had three hits for the Wranglers.

Front Royal 6, Woodstock 3

Frank Zier scattered one run on six hits in 6.0 innings as Front Royal doubled up Woodstock 6-3. He struck out six.

Will Walsh went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases to lead the Cards.

Mike Garza was 4 for 5 with a triple for the 'Bandits.
