Haymarket 7, Covington 6
Trailing by five runs heading into the fifth inning, league-leading Haymarket rallies for a 7-6 victory over Covington in a contest played at Rebel Park in New Market. The Senators become the first team in the league to clinch a playoff berth with the win.
Brant Jones completed the six-run rally, clearing the bases with a single to left in the top of the ninth inning.
Jones finished the game 2 for 4 with four RBI while Mike Martinez was 2 for 4 with three RBI for the ‘Jacks.
Front Royal 5, Rockbridge 3
Josh Hoguet strikes out five in 6 1/3 innings to pitch Front Royal to a 5-3 victory over Rockbridge.
Matt Holland had three hits and Sean Jamieson two RBI for the Cards.
Robert Skinner paces the Rapids with two hits and two RBI.
Harrisonburg 9, Woodstock 3
Harrisonburg takes an early lead on a Shaun Cooper home run in the
bottom of the first and cruises to a 9-3 victory over
Woodstock.
Scott Dalrymple had three hits, scored once, and had two RBI for the Turks.
Buddy Sosnoskie and Foster Dunigan each had two hits for the River Bandits.
Waynesboro 2, Luray 1
Taylor Sandefur allows just one run on five hits and four walks in 8 1/3 innings while striking out five in a 2-1 Waynesboro victory over Luray.
Grant Fillipitch drives in what proves to be the game-winning run with a single in the fifth.
Ryan Lashley has the Wranglers RBI.
New Market 6, Covington 5
Host New Market sends Covington down to its second defeat of the day with a 6-5 come-from-behind victory.
Trailing 5-3, the Rebels score once in the eighth and twice in the ninth to complete the comeback.
Kenny Mickens has three hits for the victors with Ryan Dineen doing the same for the 'Jacks.
Haymarket 11, Staunton 6
Haymarket jumps out to a 5-0 lead and holds off Staunton in an 11-6 Senators victory. Jason Boyer and Jackson Geary allowed just two earned runs in 6 2/3 innings of relief to lift the Sens to the win.
Brant Jones was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and two runs batted in to lead the Haymarket offense.
Steve Scoby was 2-for-5 with a run scored and a run batted in for the Braves.
