Heading into the Homestretch

Luray 5, Woodstock 3 (Game 1)

Host Luray opens up a doubleheader with Woodstock by topping the 'Bandits 5-3. Brian Delucia drove in three for the Wranglers on a 1 for 2 night and Jonathan Murphy had two hits.

Billy Barber was 2 for 4 with two RBI for Woodstock.

Luray 15, Woodstock 2 (Game 2)

The Wranglers finish off the sweep with a 15-2 win in the nightcap. Luray scores two runs in each of the first three innings before blowing things open with a five-run fourth.

Four different Wranglers have multiple hits with Brian Delucia leading the way with four. Jonathan Griffin backs up Delucia by driving in four.

Cody Weiss strikes out 10 and allows just two hits in 6.0 innings to earn the win.

Erich Fernandez is 1 for 3 with an RBI for the River Bandits.

Front Royal 10, Winchester 7

Front Royal, highlighted by a Greg Van Sickler two-run double, scores four runs in the ninth to defeat Winchester 10-7. 

Pete Greskoff and Andy Drexel chip in two hits each for the Cards.  

For the Royals, Tim Cross had a 3-run HR.  

Kyle Scallion picked up his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.

Front Royal qualifies for the playoffs with the victory.

Haymarket 4, New Market 3

Haymarket clinches the No. 1 seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs with a 4-3 comeback win over New Market.

Kevin Ferguson gets his fifth win and Matt Doyle posts a team-record-tying sixth save of the summer.

Brant Jones has two of the Senators four hits while Kevin Brown is 2 for 4 for the Rebels.

Rockbridge 6, Harrisonburg 5 (11 inn)

Rockbridge keeps playoff hopes alive with a 6-5, 11-inning win Harrisonburg. 

Dillon Way hit a game-winning infield single knocking in Andrew Barna with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th; Alan Watts earned the win with two innings of relief work.

Despite the loss, Harrisonburg qualifies for the playoffs due to Woodstock losing twice and New Market falling to Haymarket.

Staunton 6, Waynesboro 3

Staunton keeps slim playoff hopes alive with a 6-3 victory over Waynesboro before the largest crowd of the season (1,561) Friday at Moxie Stadium.

David Gibson worked seven innings and allowed just three runs on eight hits. He struck out five and walked one. Tyler Deetjen closed out the contest with two innings of one-hit relief.

Stephen Branca led the Braves offense with a 2-for-4 effort with a runs scored and one run batted in.

Grant Fillipitch was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to lead the Waynesboro offense.
