Covington 3, Staunton 2
Host Covington scores two runs in the bottom of the sixth to down Staunton 3-2. Andrew Longley had two hits and Michael Garcia drove in a pair for the ‘Jacks.
Manny Martir scattered two hits in the win with Jake Joyce throwing the final three innings for the save.
Rockbridge 8 Woodstock 5
Rockbridge wins another one with an 8-5 victory over Woodstock. Chris Zbin pitched six innings, giving up four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out six. Marcus Broadwater recorded the final five outs for the save.
Offensively, Chris Love was 2 for 5 with a single and a double.
Miguael Rodriques had two hits for the River Bandits.
Front Royal 3, Waynesboro 2
Front Royal scored twice in the eighth before getting the winning run in the bottom of the 11th on a Will Walsh single to left.
Walsh and Sean Jamison each had three hits for the Cards.
Andrew Turocy led the Generals 3 for 5.
Harrisonburg 4, Luray 2
Down to its final at-bat, Harrisonburg scored three runs in the top of the ninth to defeat Luray 4-2. The Turks had four straight hits in the frame before scoring the winning run on a fielder’s choice.
JJ Loker had two hits to lead the victors.
Jonathan Griffin was 3 for 4 to pace Luray.
Winchester 8, New Market 2
Host Winchester scored five runs in the first three innings to coast past New Market 8-2. Seven of the Royals starters had at least one hit, with Cory Spangenberg getting four in five at-bats.
Rusty Smith was 2 for 4 for the Rebels.
