Friday Night Lights

Harrisonburg 5, Rockbridge 3

Rockbridge took an early lead with three runs on three hits in the second only to see Harrisonburg rally for the 5-3 win. The Turks tied it with a three-run sixth and then got the eventual winning run in the eighth when Connor Winn drew a bases loaded walk.

Reuben Sosa collected three hits in four attempts and scored two runs to lead the victors with Andrew Siano driving in a pair for the Rapids.

Aaron Luchterhand pitched a complete game, gave up three runs on five hits, walked four, and struck out six to pick up his second win in three decisions this summer.

Waynesboro 11, New Market 3

Mike Hernandez scattered nine hits and striking out nine in seven innings to move to 2-1 on the year as Waynesboro took out New Market 11-3. Greg Smith pitched two innings scoreless relief with four strikeouts.

Every General hitter in the starting lineup had at least one hit, with Andrew Tourcy and Zephan Guyear getting three apiece.

Brent Mikionis had two hits and two RBI for the Rebels.

Front Royal 8, Luray 0

Greg Van Sickler pitched 6 2/3 innings, struck out 11 and allowed just five hits to help Front Royal to an 8-0 shutout victory over Luray.

For the Wranglers, it is the second straight night they have been shut out.

Matt Holland had a grand slam in the bottom of the first for the Cardinals and finished the night with two hits and four RBI. 

Kevin Carlow struck out four in 3.0 innings for Luray.

Covington 11, Winchester 5
 
Mike Martinez's grand slam HR helped the 'Jacks extend their win streak to four games and snapping the Royals streak at three with an 11-5 Covington win.  Martinez wound up the night with five RBI with Ryan Dineen aiding the cause with three. 

Cory Spangenberg was 2 for 6 and J.D. Wallace had a 2 run HR for Winchester.  

Haymarket 11, Woodstock 4

Gregory Nappo pitched 5 1/3 strong innings and struck out nine Woodstock hitters in Haymarket's 11-4 victory.  Austin Schultz led the 16-hit Senators attack with four hits, including a double, in six at-bats. Eric Stamets added a home run and a pair of RBI's while Yoandy Barrosa and Scott Ferrara both had three hits.

Mike Garza had three hits, including a double, for the River Bandits.
