Haymarket 10, Winchester 5
For the third time in four meetings this season, Haymarket puts up double-digit runs in a 10-5 win at Winchester. Eric Stamets was 4 for 6 and Rudy Flores and Austin Schultz had three hits each for the Senators.
Flores got the Haymarket offense started on the right note with a two-run HR in the first.
Cody Gaskill had a two-run HR for the Royals while Cory Spangenberg was 3 for 4.
Bob Van Woert went six innings for the Senators to earn his third win of the summer.
New Market 5, Staunton 1
Four New Market pitchers combine to throw a five-hitter in a 5-1 victory over Staunton. The Rebels got all of the offense they would need with two runs in the third before adding on with one run in the fourth and two more in the eighth.
Jason Coker leads an 11-hit attack with three while Kenny Mickens is 2 for 4 with an RBI.
Todd Brazeal and Steve Scoby are each 1 for 3 for the Braves.
Luray 2, Covington 1
Host Luray scores an unearned run in the fifth inning to push past Covington 2-1. Eric Phillips drives in that winning run with a groundout; he plated Justin Fradejas, who had walked before stealing second and then moving to third on a 'Jacks throwing error.
Robby Stahl and Ryan Dineen have two hits each for Covington.
Waynesboro 9, Harrisonburg 3
Taylor Sandefur scattered seven hits over eight innings, struck
out nine and walked three in Waynesboro's 9-3 win over Harrisonburg
that helped knock the Turks out of first place.
Andrew Turocy went 3-for-5 and drove in a pair of runs, and Jon Clinard cracked the game open with a three-run double.
Bobby Brown went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for Harrisonburg. Aaron Luchterhand was pinched with the loss.
Front Royal 6, Woodstock 1
Blake Ford scattered five hits and one run in 8.0 innings to help Front Royal to a 6-1 win over Woodstock. Ford struck out four and walked just one in picking up the win.
Pete Greskoff had four RBI and Sean Jamieson was 2 for 4 with two RBI for the Cards.
Mike Garza was 1 for 4 and scored the River Bandits lone run.
