The Senators take the 1-0 lead in the series by scoring four runs in the second and two more in the fourth to cruise to the win over the Rebels.
Scott Ferrara and Jimmy Vahalik each drive in two for the victors.
Francisco Ramirez has two hits for New Market.
Front Royal 6, Waynesboro 2
Sean Jamieson drives in three runs and Blake Ford strikes out five in 6 2/3 to help Front Royal past Waynesboro 6-2.
Pete Greskoff backs up Jamieson with two hits for the Cards, who seized control of the game with a four-run sixth.
Alan Stoupa and Chase Worthington have a combined five hits for the Generals.
Luray 3, Covington 1
Tucker Jensen strikes out eight in 7.0 innings to pitch host Luray past Covington 3-1.
A two-run second provides Jensen with all of the offense he would need – Michael Broad drove in what proved to be the game-winning run with a single.
Michael Garcia and Issac Wenrich had two hits each for the ‘Jacks.
Harrisonburg 8, Winchester 4
Harrisonburg registers the only upset of opening night with an 8-4 victory over third-seeded Winchester. The Turks hit five home runs in the game, including two by Shaun Cooper. Joe Huber, Connor Winn and Scott Dalrymple had Harrisonburg’s other dingers.
Cody Gaskill homered twice for the Royals and Steve Sabins was 3 for 4 for the hosts.
