Home Run Derby

WINCHESTER, Va. - The Valley League has announced that 11 players will compete for the home run derby title this evening in Haymarket prior to the start of the 2011 All-Star contest.

The 11 players all have at least four home runs on the season, and will now get to show their power in front of the VBL fans prior to tonight's All-Star game hosted by the Haymarket Senators.

Host Haymarket has three players picked for the derby while VBL leader Harrisonburg and 2011 newcomer Strasburg have two each. The Turks two players, Mac Willliamson and Dodson McPherson, are currrently Nos. 1 and 3 in the league in home runs with nine and six, respectively.

The derby is scheduled to begin at 5:20.

The 11 players:

2. Nathan Minnich, Winchester (7)

3. Dodson McPherson, Harrisonburg (6)

4. Saxon Butler, Front Royal (6)

5. Orlando Olivera, Luray (6)

6. Igor Molina, Strasburg (5)

7. Anthony Stokes, Covington (5)

8. Charlie Morgan, Haymarket (4)

9. Mike Snyder, Haymarket (4)

10. Brad Zebedis, Strasburg (4)
