Harrisonburg Leads VBL Rankings
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Harrisonburg Turks lead three Valley League teams in summer baseball rankings released Wednesday by Perfect Game.
The Turks, who were eliminated in the VBL semi-finals by eventual league runner-up Rockbridge, fall nine spots to No. 16 in the nation this week.
Harrisonburg is the only VBL team in the top 35 - Winchester and 2011 VBL champ Covington are among a host of teams also under consideration.
The Royals, who had the second-best record in the regular season after the Turks, were eliminated by the Lumberjacks in the semi-finals.
Covington then defeated Rockbridge 2-1 in the championship series.
Harrisonburg finished year with a 34-14 mark, Winchester was 31-18 and Covington 27-25.
Edenton (N.C.), from the Coastal Plain League, is the nation's No. 1 team while Bethesda (Md.) of the Cal Ripken has moved up to No. 2.
Hyannis (Mass.), from the Cape Cod League, falls two spots to No. 4.
