Players of the Week Announced

Players of the Week

North: Mark Nelson, Haymarket. Nelson hit a league-best .577 last week with 15 hits in 26 at-bats. In that span, the Orlando, Florida native and Florida Atlantic player also had three doubles, two home runs and eight runs batted in.

Central: Sam Dove, Harrisonburg. Dove helped the Turks to bring themselves to within one game of clinching the No. 1 seed throughout the playoffs by hitting .524 with 11 hits in 21 at-bats. Dove, from Nolensville, Tenn. and Georgia Tech, had two doubles, drove in eight and also walked twice.

South: Jordan Walton, Waynesboro. Walton, from Ashland, Virginia and Randolph-Macon, led Waynesboro into the playoffs by hitting .364 with eight hits in 22 at-bats. In the playoffs-clinching win over Staunton Sunday night, Walton had four hits and drove in four. For the week, he had a double, two triples and eight RBI.

Pitchers of the Week

North: Sean Bouthilette, Winchester. Bouthilette tossed the first 7.0 innings of a 17-1 victory over Strasburg Friday night with 10 strikeouts against two hits, one walk and zero runs allowed. Bouthilette is an Elizabethtown, Ky. native and plays at Campbellsville.

Central: Jacob Guengerich, New Market. Guengerich, from Sarasota, Florida and Florida Southern, pitched the Rebels to within one game of a playoff berth with a complete game 5-1 victory over rival Luray on Friday evening. Guengerich allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out five.

South: Jordan Elliott, Rockbridge. Elliott, from Dover, Delaware and Delaware State, picks up his second Pitcher of the Week award after tossing the first 8.0 innings of a 3-0 victory over South Division leader Waynesboro Saturday night. Elliott gave up just two singles, walked three and struck out four in earning his third win of the summer.
