Zebedis Named League MVP

WINCHESTER, Va. - Strasburg first baseman Brad Zebedis has been named the Valley League MVP in selections announced Friday by the league.

The award one of two that Zebedis has earned this post-season. The Presbyterian sophomore is also one of two VBL players to be named a summer league All-America by Perfect Game.

Harrisonburg's Mac Williamson joins Zebedis as the only two VBL players to earn this status.

Williamson is one of two Turks to garner post-season awards - teammate Aaron Luchterhand has been named as the VBL Most Valuable Pitcher after helping Harrisonburg to the league's best regular season record.

Finally, Williamson, a Wake Forest product, along with Nathan Minnich (Winchester/Shepherd) and Jordan Walton (Waynesboro/Randolph-Macon) have been named NACSB All-Stars.

Zebedis led the VBL with a .420 average for the first-year Express with Williamson coming in second at .381 and Walton fourth at .364.

Zebedis was first in hits, doubles, total bases and OBP, second in slugging percentage and tied for third with 36 RBI.

Williamson paced the VBL with a .706 slugging percentage, had 38 RBI and tied for second in the league with 10 HR.

Minnich bested Williamson by one dinger to win the league's home run title with 11.

Luchterhand, from Arkansas Tech, had a league-best 1.60 ERA, held opponents to a .168 batting average and threw a league-high 73.0 innings this summer. He was 4-1 with 48 strikeouts against 18 walks in that span.
