Generals Ink Naming Rights Deal
WAYNESBORO, Va. - The Waynesboro Generals have entered into a naming rights deal for Kate Collins Field in an announcement made Saturday, May 30.
In a one-year agreement announced on Saturday at a press conference, the Generals organization announced that its home ballpark will be known as Fishburne Military School Park at Kate Collins Field.
In addition to referring to the new name on all game-related communications, the name Fishburne Military School Park at Kate Collins Field will be featured on Generals game tickets and schedules and on the team's website, www.waynesborogenerals.com.
"This is a significant indication of support for our organization and what we're trying to do to bring Valley League Baseball back to life in Waynesboro," said Chris Graham, the team's executive vice president and general manager.
"We've been getting a tremendous amount of support from local businesses in recent weeks, but Fishburne really hit one out of the ballpark by joining us as our naming-rights sponsor," Graham continued.
"This is a tremendous opportunity for us to highlight our celebration of Fishburne Military School's 130th anniversary," said FMS superintendent Col. Roy Zinser. "Everyone in the Fishburne Family is thrilled to be a part of the Waynesboro Generals Family."
The first game with the new name is Friday, June 5, against the Valley League's newest team, the Rockbridge Rapids.
The Valley League is a 12-team, NCAA-sanctioned wood-bat summer league in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and is heading to its 86th season of competition this summer.
