Billings Named to Perfect Game All-American Team
2015 Perfect Game Summer Collegiate All-Americans
At the conclusion of the 2015 season, Harrisonburg Turks outfielder Shane Billings was named to the Perfect Game Summer Collegiate All-American team.
Billings, the 2015 Valley League MVP, was the lone VBL player selected to the team- which recognizes the top players from collegiate summer baseball leagues across the country. Billings was a third team All-American selection.
Billings led the Valley League in 2015 with a .418 batting average in 39 games played. In 153 at-bats, he collected 64 hits, six doubles, four triples, two home runs and 15 RBIs. He also added 45 runs, 19 walks and 21 steals.
In addition to ranking first in batting average, he led the league in hits, runs, and was tied for first in steals. He had the highest league on-base percentage (.483), was second in slugging average (.549), and ranked third in OPS (1.032).
He helped lead the Turks to a 29-13 mark- tied for the best regular season record in the VBL last summer.
At Wingate, Billings was a first team NCBWA and Daktronics All-American, and a second team ABCA All-American last spring. He also earned first team All-Region honors from those three organizations.
Now a junior, Billings is a Preseason All-Conference selection for the defending South Atlantic Conference champion Bulldogs and an NCBWA first team Preseason All-American.
Similar to past years the Cape Cod League led the way in number of players listed with 10 players making the three All-America teams and honorable mention list, including five on the first team.
Billings is set to return to the Turks this summer for another Valley League campaign.
